60th Anniversary
No sooner had I bragged about the 50th wedding anniversary of Dennis and Deloise Wilkie, Bob and Mary handed me an invitation to the 60th wedding anniversary of his parents. She was 18 and he was 21 when they got married and she spoke only one word of English: "No."
He now has Alzheimer's Disease but she faithfully takes care of him because she remembers the man that he was to her all these years. I wish that you could see their faces light up when they saw me at Venetian Palace for the dinner.
I arrived at the restaurant early and parked the car on their lot and went across the street to Wendy's for a jumbo size Coke. I would had preferred a nice cold beer, but that was not available. I told the manager that I am early and that my park is in their lot. No problem.
Our two waitresses were two young women from Lithuania. I noticed that one sounded Slavic so I asked her in Russian if she speaks Russian. The three of us talked mainly in English, but also some in Russian. Their English was perfect and they both had wonderful personalities. It is a shame [for us] that they will be going back home soon. It was their idea to have a picture of the three of us.
