My sister celebrated her birthday with a big party and I went down to Washington for the occasion. The food was fantastic and I really enjoyed the iced tea. Her friends did a wonderful job of fixing up the hall and taking care of the arrangements. Cindy's Delight was the caterer and the decor design was by Theme Chasers Party Planners. The hostesses were Mrs. Michelle Walden, Mrs. Meleatha Calhoun, Ms. Lois Calhoun, Ms. Shareé Brooks, Ms. Kristina Robinson, and Ms. Joyce Tyler. Ted Price was the DJ. Several of us really enjoyed the music, most of which we have not heard for years. One woman commented that we grew up on this music.
Mrs. Sharon Calhoun was the Mistress of Ceremony and Mr. Baron Walden blessed the food. We also had a music selection by Ms. Michelle Sommerville and entertainment was provided by Our Lady Queen of Peace Line Dancers. I was very much surprised to see the number of senior citizens out on the dance floor and having a great time. Some of them were really "getting down" as you can see in the photographs.
The menu consisted of Miniature Crab Cakes, Spiced Shrimp, Honey Glazed Sesame Salmon, Chicken Saté with Honey Mustard Sauce, Hawaiian Meatballs, Bow Tie Pasta Chicken Salad, Turkey and Swiss Wraps, Crudités, and Fruit Display.
First I served Vigil at my cathedral. I do not want to be in Washington around the time of a service and not take part, one way or another. It just would not seem right. At the party I showed some of the photographs taken at the cathedral and at the party. Thus I had a chance to share with others. Maybe one of my nephews or one of my sister's guests will see that I really do have something very beautiful and precious.
While doing this page, I suddenly realized that I have not been to Washington at all this year. I do not count going to Beltsville as going to Washington, although it is a Washington suburb.
