Education Day 2008
Every year I look forward to going to Education Day at St. Vladimir's Seminary, my alma mater. I was unable to go last year because of a lack of transportation.
This year Monika, Sandy, and I drove up. We left Baltimore around 6:00 and we ran into a traffic problem as Interstatae 95 was shut down completely because of an accident. This was one time that I really wish that we had GPS. Thank God that we did have E-Z Pass. That definitely saved us time. It also saved money as we did not have to wait in line at toll booths.
We arrived near the beginning of the Divine Liturgy. The bishops celebrating were Archbishop Seraphim, Bishop Tikhon, and Bishop Alexander (Antiochian). This was the first time that I have seen Bishop Alexander since his elevation. He used to be the pastor of St. Mary Church in Hunt Valley, a suburb of Baltimore.
After the Liturgy, I was standing near the back of the tent and some items needed to be carried back to the chapel. The priet in charge turned to me and said, "You're a deacon!" and then asked me to take one of the relics cases back. To me this is one of the reasons that I wanted to be a deacon. These little things are very important to me. |
