It's that time of the year again, Festival Preparation. Yesterday we made kielbasi but I was unable to attend. Today we made potato vareniki. Next weekend we will be making Halupki. This will be on Saturday. If you are interested in helping, get in touch with me and I will put you in contact with the right people.
I thought that it was interesting seeing Americans, Greeks, Russians, and Georgians working together. Some times perhaps ther was a language barrier, but the love of Christ was our bond. One of the nice things about Holy Trinity Orthodox Church is that we are open to all ethnic groups and we try to get along together. Thank God that I know some basic Russian and some basic Greek. Unfortunately I can't say anything in Georgian yet, but I hope to learn.
Natalie and I took all the photos on this page. As usually, she does a great job. Among other things, she and her sister Sarah will be great photographers.
While the women were making vareniki, the men moved the "bar" from the "Bar Room" to Art's truck and he took it to his warehouse. I have to get out there to see it some day. Natalie used one camera and I used the other. I have a 28-80mm lens on one and a 70-300mm on the other. I also have a 50mm f/1.8 lens which is great for low light conditions. Natalie also took most of the outside pictures.
As I look at the photos, I recognize some people, I know others, but there are several whom I do not remember ever seeing in the past. But that's okay. We are all God's children coming together in Christ's name. And our priest just blended in with everybody else.
