Baptismal Dinner
The dinner to celebrate Tendai's baptism was held a week after the baptism, but on the day that the baptism was completed with his reception of the Body and Blood of Christ. At the Liturgy, Tendai was first to receive, then I received, and then his father, and then the rest of the church, starting with the altar servers.
After he received, I took him over to the table for the zapata, or whatever it is called. Then his father took him back and I returned to the altar. I was pleasantly surprised seeing Gregory saying the Prayers after Communion. Reader Joseph had bread and wine waiting for me and I partook of it.
After the Liturgy we went downstairs and we took some photographs of Tendai and me. His mother took some with her camera and Vera took some of us with my camera.
Later in the evening Michael, Kira, and Tendai picked me up at my house and we went to dinner at McCormack and Schmicks which was located in the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. Of course, I took photographs before we went into the restaurant. Kira took some of Michael, Tendai, and me with her camera and mine.
Our waiter was Steve and he was really good with children. He immediately warmed up to Tendai. At the table next to us was Major General Bruce Tuxill. It was only after he left that I verified his identity with Steve who normally does not work on Sunday, but he did this Sunday at the request of the general.
I met the general back in December when I was helping with the invitations for the inauguration. I also met the governor-elect again. He also knows me from the Greek Independence Day Parades and from MWMCA where I used to work.
I also received a call from Holy Apostles Orthodox Church inviting me to come down to hear a visitor from New York who worked with Fr. Seraphim Rose. Trying to go to this event would had been too much. I do not want to go to an event if there is a possibility that I might have to leave early or to rush home.
