Visitors at Cathedral Gardens
Saturday 11 August 2007 was very special. Besides some of our regulars, we also had some special visitors.
After Vespers Drew noticed a deer and pointaed it out to me. By the time that I got my equipment together, it was too late. I tried to follow where it went, but was unsuccessful.
So I stayed around and took other pictures. The first one of Rachel and Tendai is an extremely precious picture, especially since Rachel makes it almost impossible to get photographs of her and she is quite pretty.
I also took several photographs of Tendai. You cannotr go wrong by chooting photographs of children, especially cute ones like Tendai.I also photographed some of the adults there and then put away my equipment for the evening.
As I was leaving, I noticed Michael waiting at the gate. When I pulled up and looked to my left, I saw two deer. I immediately pulled out my cameras and changed lens. This took too long. But I did notice where the deer went and drove up the street and saw two just standing there. I took a few photographs and then went further up the street and turned around and headed home. On the way out of the area, I saw another one in the woods and picked up the camra and took photographs.
Yes, it was late, definitely after 19:30 (7:30 pm) and th elight was getting low and the deer were in the woods and it is usually even darker in the woods. Therefore, I am grateful that I was able to get anything.
Some of my friends probaly wonder why this fascination with these few deer. I grew up in the middle of Washington DC and I never saw a deer except at the zoo or as a part of a Christmas display. So for me to see a deer in an area which I frequent is a real treat.
