Welcome, Fr. Basil Micek
The Orthodox Church is a family. We are all related one way or another, even if not by blood or marriage. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and we all eat and drink from the same bread and cup.
In many Orthodox Church on the dome is an icon of Christ, the Panacrator. You see only His head, His top. You don't see His feet because we are His feet. We are the Body of Christ and He is the head of the Body.
On Sunday 29 July 2007 we at Holy Trinity were visited by Fr. Basil Micek and his wife Pamela. Their son Nicholas is one of our altar servers. It is always a joy to have Fr. Basil with us. He has a great sense of humor and we did share some jokes during the coffee hour after the Divine Liturgy.
Although Fr. Basil is our "visitor," he is still family and this page is emphasizing our family. That is why you see young people. Anybody who is Orthodox is a part of our family, whether he belongs to Holy Trinity or elsewhere. We love all of our young people and we want them to share in our lives, somewhat as God wants us to share in His life. After all we are the Body of Christ and we are called to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect and the Church is the place for us to start the road to this perfection.
Now, for my former co-worker Jerel who asked me, "Don't you feel out of place there?" How can I feel out of place when I am a part of the Body of Christ?
I'm dividing the photographs into two pages: Natalie's photograph and my photographs. Natalie's flash did not work as well as mine. Part of the reason is that she only had the internal flash and I had my SB400 Nikon external flash. Plus, I think that my Nikon D50 is a much better camera than my Canon Rebel.
