2007 Parish Life Conference
Saturday Picnic
On Saturday of the Conference we had a picnic. It was a great opportunity for people to get to know one another.
A highlight of the picnic was to see Bishop Thomas playing volley ball. He arrived after the football game so he had to settle for throwing the football. He surprised some of the young people by throwing it well over their heads.
Part of the picnic was a clergy cook-off. The script writers did a fantastic job of putting it together and combining the delicious food with terms that would be meaningful to an Orthodox Christians. One dish was named after the last placed baseball team and I thought that it was asfter the Baltimore Orioles. It was a Philly steak. As far as I am concerned, Philadelphia can have the last place.
The picnic ended with Vespers outside. Our own Deacon Mark served along with the Presbyter Fr. Noel whom I met at the Conference earlier.
