2007 Parish Life Conference
Saturday Hafli
On Saturday of the Conference we had a Hafli, an Arabic style dance. My first exposure to the Hafli was as a Byzantine Rite Catholic when St. Joseph Melkite Catholic Church had one and I attended. I do not havc a clue about Arab dancing, but they are fun to watch and if I did not have two left feet, I would love to learn.
At the Hafli we also auction off the arts of the children. The proceeds went to various charities chosen by the children. Part of the purpose of my attending the Hafli was to get photographs of the winners of the auction. I did not stay long enough to get all of them, but I did enough for our purpose.
It was wonderful seeing people of all ages out on the floor, little children to great-grandparents.
