Picnic July 2006

What can I say? I have said it all on previous pages. If you have not been at one of our picnics, do yourself a big favor and attend.

As I upload the photographs, I did find something to say. I had the honor of experiencing Georgian (the Republic of Georgia) hospitality at this picnic. The Georgians reached out to me and treated me as a brother, although I do not speak one word of Georgian, but I do speak Russian and that is acceptable to them. We were also to a display of Georgian dancing which was really beautiful. I hope that we will see the same at our Russian Festival in October.

In addition, Fr. John blessed many of the cars that were there. There were two sessions. In the first session, the actual blessing was in Slavonic since that was the book that he happen to have with him. The other prayers were in English. The second blessing was mainly in Slavonic since it was mainly for the Russians and Georgians. When he did the first blessing, most of those there were Americans. Just as he finished, others came and asked if their cars could also be blessed and this was the reason for a second service. Blessing of cars was not on the schedule.

Also, some of the Georgians wanted to go to the chapel and light candles. So we opened it for them. Some of them had candles that were made in Georgia.

Below are photographs of members of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church and our visitors.

For the record, this page is not an official document of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church nor any other organization. It is strictly my personal recollection of the wonderful day.

You are visitor # since Tuesday 23 May 2006.
