Festival Preparation

Finally we made it to the last weekend and the truly faithful were there as always. We are really blessed to have such dedicated people who are there when we need them.

During the Divine Liturgy while the priest is receiving Holy Communion, we started a practice of the altar servers reading the Prayers before Communion. This way we impress on them the importance of saying the prayers and it also gives them something to do while the adult servers are preparing the bread and wine.

After the Liturgy there were various activities. Before the work really started, Reader Joseph plays a game of chess with Vera while her brother Christopher looks on. While some of the women are working in the kitchen, Fr. John is helping John with the Russian that he needs to learn for the Festival. John had asked me to help him, but when I saw the phonetics, I could not read it. I have to read Russian and Greek in the original alphabet, not English phonetics.

Finally, before I left I took photographs of the doors that were painted in time for the Festival. I was really happy to see the nice job that the company did.

Please enjoy the photographs.
