Grace Ministries

On Tuesday 11 July 2006 Holy Cross hosted a presentation by Fr. Gordon Walker and Dr. Albert Raboteau. I promised Fr. Gregory Matthewes-Green that I will not publish my notes until he has a chance to review them. I do not want to say anything that could possibly endanger the lives of Orthodox Christians in Moslem countries.

I had to make a choice this evening of where I should be. Besides this presentation, my own parish was having a Vigil Service for the old calendar feast of Saints Peter and Paul. Plus I had a neighborhood association meeting. Needless to say, the association meeting ends up in third place.

Right before coming to the presentation, I had to stop by the house to correct a page on my website. I am extremely grateful to a member of my former parish who gave me a car a year ago. Without the car, I definitely would had been late getting to the church since I leave work at 17:00 and Vespers is at 18:30 and the presentation was after Vespers. From work to home is about an hour and from home to the church is about an hour by public transportation. By car it is only 30 minutes from work to home and about 20 minutes from home to the church.

When I arrived, I greeted Fr. Gregory and he invited me to serve. I am always honored to serve in an Orthodox temple. There really was not much to do since it was Daily Vespers. But I still felt honored.

Fr. Gordon Walker gave his presentation and then Dr. Albert Raboteau spoke. Both had much to offer to us. Holy Cross is another home for me and I am always comfortable here. Despite what a former co-worker might feel, I do not feel out of place at Holy Cross nor at any other Orthodox temple. When I come to Holy Cross I fully understand why the ambassadors reported back to Grand Duke Vladimir, "We knew not whether we were in heaven or on earth."

Please enjoy the photographs.
