Scenery
I entitled this page "Scenery," but that is not really accurate.
Baltimore is a fascinating city. You can walk down one street and find really bad slums and then a block or two away you have a very expensive and upscale neighborhood. You might see rundown houses and vacant houses and then a really wonderful park. You might see houses which need to be torn down and then progress in the making. You see some of this here.
I had to photograph the teleplhone as pay phones are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Ten years ago on the corner of Charles and Read streets there were three sets of pay phones and each set had about 20 phones. Now all of them are gone. There are two major factors for this. One is citizens' pressure to get rid of pay phones at certain locations because of drug dealers and the other is the relative easily availability of cell phones.
Around 1995 my vehicle broke down outside the main Post Office and it took me 15 minutes to find a pay phone. Just a few years earlier I would had been able to find a pay phone with no problem. Today they are quite rare. So I took the photo for memory sake.
