Seton Hill Neighborhood and vicinityThese are just on-going photos of my neighborhood. Please note the uneveness of the bricks in the first five photographs. It appears that the tree that was cut down is responsible (fourth and fifth photographs). This is definitely a safety hazard. It is near one of the entrances to the park and somebody who is carrying something to or from the park might not see the uneveness and fall. Also, the weeds around the tree stump need to be remedied. Neighbors are taking care of the park and surroundings as much as they can, but we also need help from those walking through to stop just throwing trash on the streets. We take pride in our neighborhood and we want to keep it really nice. The park itself is beautiful. Karen and her helpers do a fantastic job. Probably if you go through the archives on my site you can see the progress. Maybe one day I can put up a page for this. I also photographed some of the construction in the area. The BGE project is moving forward. This is not really what we want, but they have the money to buy whatever they want regardless of how the neighborhood feels. This is happening in this case. But the project is an improvement of what they first showed us. I also took more photographs of Mt. Calvary Episcopal Church since this church has applied for historical recognition. The Neighborhood supports this. Finally there is the construction for the Mother Seton House and the Saint Mary Spiritual Center. I would had taken more photos, but I put away my camera for security reasons. If you are near Lexington Market and want to find a nice place to sit down and eat your lunch, come over to Saint Mary Park. It is one of Baltimore's best kept secrets and it is "Walking Distance to the Rest of the World." From Seton Hill one can walk to Penn Station to catch a train, or walk a few blocks to the Light Rail stop to go to BWI Airport. One can walk to subway stations and bus stops. Also Camden Yard is actually in walking distance and so is the Inner Harbor. Walters Art Gallery is just blocks away. And the Greyhound Bus Terminal used to be in easy walking distance. It is still in walking distance for the young and healthy. |
