Tree Removal 9 Oct 2008
We in Seton Hill love trees, but when the trees start to destroy our homes, then we are up in arms about them. This has been the situation for five trees near my house. Thank God, one tree was removed a year ago and now the other trees have been removed.
When I first moved into my house, we had to pour a root killer down the drain every three months or so. If we did not, the roots would destroy the sewer line. In the relatively recent pastMike and Karen had to pay $1,000 to have their sewer line repaired because of the trees.
When I was working for The Holding Company back in the early 1980s, I could not understand why the tree company charged so much to remove limbs from a tree on our property. Today after watching and photographing the removal of the trees in my area, I have an appreciation for their skill and talent. You do not just saw off the tree near the ground. You first have to cut off most of the limbs and this can be a delicate operation, depending on electrical and other wires in the area. Then you cut down the tree, section by section. The man in the boom first cuts and then a man on the ground pull so that the section falls safely on the ground and not on a car or something else.
After the tree is cut down by one crew, another man in another truck comes and removes the trunk. This is also a specialized operation. The photographs of this operation are displayed on this page.
Then another man comes and grind out the roots. Jarad did this on 26 November 2008 and the photographs will be posted as soon as possible. |
