Independence Day Picnics 2006

What can I say? This was a wonderful picnic and I had an opportunity to meet many of my wonderful neigbors. I was prepared to pay for my food, but everything was free. There was not even a donation box.

At first I did not think that I would be able to stay. I had a picnic at another location which I thought was at 16:30, which really did not seem correct. At church on the morning of Sunday 2 July 2006 I asked Maryann and she had been receiving the e-mail messages and she gave me the correct information. Thus, I was able to stay until 17:00.

It was also wonderful seeing the few children who were there. They were just adorable. There were not necessarily children from the neighborhood.

Please enjoy the photographs taken with my Canon dSLR camera. I also had a chance to check out a Fuji camera and it might be the next one which I will purchase instead of the Nikon which I am considering. But I still plan to get the Nikon also.

After leaving this picnic, I went to another picnic by the St. Maximos Society held at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church. The St. Maximos Society is a Catholic-Orthodox dialog. It was started by the late Gerard Bugge and held at the home of the late Sheila Prichard. When Gerard could no longer handle it, Fr. Paschal took over and we moved to the church.

This is one situation where a film camera would had been better. The light level was low and not cooperative. As a result, the camera would not take many of the photographs which I attempted. Probably the real problem is that I don't know how to use digital photography effective. With film camera I would had simply set the shutter speed to 1/30 and opened the lens as wide as possible. The fact that we were outside after dark was another factor.
