Health Freedom Walk 2006

Perhaps the Health Freedom Walk is the main event that took place on a beautiful Saturday 6 May 2006. I don't know for sure. It definitely was a part of a health fair which took place across the street from where I live in scenic Seton Hill, "walking distance to the rest of the world."

Although I did not see many of my neighbors at the event, it still was a wonderful way to bring the community together. I did talk to some of my neighbors and like me, they also did not know anything about the event until that morning when we looked out of our homes and saw the activities. Maybe next year we can coordinate this better so that the neighbors will know. I think that most of us welcome such activities.

Since I had not been with my breakfast group for several weeks, I placed a higher priority on being with them and sharing the joyous news of Christ's Resurrection. Of course, they knew that Christ rose from the dead. They are all Roman Catholics and they share most of the same beliefs that I share. Often where we disagree are not on matters of faith, but on disciplinary practices. Mary, for example, is against a married priesthood and I strongly support one. Bill believes very much in philosophy and my position is that philosophy might help with theological issues, but it can also create problems.

After having breakfast at Howard's Deli, where we usually meet, I walked back home and wandered over into Saint Mary Park to see what was happening. I also took photographs and met some wonderful people. In addition, I collected a wealth of health information. There was also a demonstration on the new voting machines that the City will be using in the upcoming election. This seems to be the best system that I have ever seen for elections.

At the National Institute of Aging table, I commented on how young the volunteers are and one said, "Actually, we are over 60." The male volunteer with them said that their normal line is that everybody starts aging at birth, which is so true.

If you were at the event, please feel free to fill me in with information that I am missing or have incorrectly.
