Preakness Parade

It is Saturday morning, 13 May. My schedule for the day: Breakfast with the usual gang around 10:30 and Vigil at 18:00. Nice quiet day.

But I should had known better. There is no such thing as a "nice quiet day." I should had been suspicious when I saw one of the traffic personnel at Paca and Saratoga Street and she suddenly started directing traffic. A block later I saw another traffic personnel at Franklin and Eutaw. As I crossed the street at Eutaw and Madison, I heard on a radio, "The Parade is ready to start," so I asked a police officer there what was the parade and he told me that it was the Preakness Parade.

Since the Preakness is one of the customers of my employer, I took photographs. I still got to breakfast, although late. But I did arrive at Vigil on time.

Yes, I did enjoy the parade, but I had to leave when they asked us to welcome a certain radio station which I have found to be very demonic and demeaning. At my last job, I had to listen to this station every day and it just made the day even more miserable.

I found it interesting that the Lexington Market float was not representative what the people whom I see at Lexington Market. Maybe they are bringing us back into history.

I was really happy to see the Girl Scouts in the parade, but a little disappionted that Dr. Pat was not with them. I am sure that she had to be some place else, maybe on a youth project with the Church. I have been on some projects with her and I had a fantastic time. The first time I represented Baltimore Reads and it was one of the most memoriable experiences that I have had since coming to Baltimore.
